Ahead of Friday’s Texture Radio party w/ special guest Ruf Dug, I asked Felix Claus, who does the warming up for the party (& who just did a guest mix in the show), to tell us a few words about 5 favourites that we all should know or have a listen to. Enjoy

Felix Claus - Texture Radio guest mix

1. William Aura: “Dream Dance”

Let me start with admitting that I have this compulsive & constant need to look for new (and old) music on the internet, fairs or second hand recordshops. As a result I forget a lot of nice founds & discoveries in my collection. This dreamy song is a perfect example of it. Glad I could give it a spin in the radio show.

2. NSRD – Pļava

This is a new song by the collective NSRD, which is just released on the STROOM label this week. I think it’s vintage STROOM material, the cover artwork in combination with the mysterious sound. Take notice of the Letian dub-beat in the track … Brraaaap! Next to the label, STROOM.TV is also an audiovisual music platform and I’ve been fortuned enough to do a contribution on it for a year now. Something that has expanded my musical taste & look on things.
A ride I won’t forget ;).

3. EMILIO SANTIAGO – O Amigo de Nova York DE NOVA YORK

Honesty & ‘realness’ is something you find more in southern music then electronic dance music. Ok, pretty logic probably but it gives an extra value to the record & artist. This brazilian classic by Emillio Santiago is a perfect example. He provided the soundtrack to many sun drenched sunday mornings at my place. 🙂

4. Disco baby – Y. Gherovsky (Red Greg & Floating Points)

Red Greg is probably not the biggest known dj name out here, but he had a very big influence on the Splén concept because of his excellent disco selection. He’s also one of Floating Points favourite artists & they make edits together from lost & forgotten gems.
ps: if you’re into this then keep an eye on the Splén page for some exciting news soon :).

5. David Simon: C’est toujours facile (instrumental)

A french 80’s boogie 7” by David Simon. The vocal version is pretty kitch but the instrumental is perfect in balance. A good one to close this top 5.

Felix Claus will do the warming up this friday at Charlatan w/ Ruf Dug (NTS Radio / Ruf Kutz) & Fred Nasen.
